Janina Nadaner, MFT

Coordinator, Center for Special Needs

An authority on children’s mental health, with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention, as well as an experienced psychotherapist and consultant to children and families, Janina has demonstrated her clinical acumen in a wide range of areas over her 30-year career: behavioral, learning, and developmental special needs; trauma-informed treatment; foster care and adoption; grief counseling; and parent education. At Parents Place, where she coordinates the Center for Special Needs, Janina and her staff provide consultations, assessments, coaching, counseling, and support to families and children seeking help to address behavioral, learning, developmental, and other challenges. Prior to joining Parents Place, Janina led a number of innovative community-based programs and served as a consultant to schools and community professionals. Most recently, she served as Regional Children's Services Coordinator for Southern Oregon.

Janina graduated from Harvard University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and social relations, and received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from San Francisco State University. She continued doctoral studies in developmental psychology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Russian, and Polish.
