Assessment

The prospect of seeking professional assessment for your child almost invariably creates a great deal of anxiety. Many parents imagine or might have already experienced lengthy and intrusive procedures, detailed questionnaires, and multiple appointments, followed by a finding that the child has some form of a “problem,” without any specific “next-step” recommendations.

Yet, when conducted by qualified and experienced professionals, and with the appropriate involvement of parents, assessments can and should be invaluable in understanding and addressing the unique learning strengths and needs of the child. In addition, they can and should lead to some very practical recommendations that address the parents’ concerns and positively affect the child’s development and learning.

Toward these goals, we have brought together a team of developmental and learning specialists with expertise in psychological and educational testing, as well as speech/language and occupational therapy. Our collaborative, integrated approach allows us to recommend the minimum screening and testing needed to produce the desired results. Led by a licensed clinical psychologist, our assessment team can effectively address many issues and concerns, including diagnosis or diagnostic clarification of the following:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Asperger’s Disorder
  • ADHD
  • Sensory-Integration Disorder
  • Specific Learning Disabilities
  • Communication/Speech and Language Disorder
  • Memory Challenges
