Benna Norman, MFT

Director of Early Childhood Mental Health; Coordinator of Single Parent Center

Benna leads a team of Parents Place clinicians who provide early childhood mental health consultation to San Francisco preschools in underserved communities. Benna and her staff train preschool personnel in techniques to identify and work with young children who may need help and support. She and her Parents Place staff also directly assist preschool children and families, as needed. In addition, she offers support, counseling, resources, and referrals to single mothers and fathers as Coordinator of the Single Parents Center at Parents Place in San Francisco. A psychotherapist with expertise in family relationships, child development, and special needs, Benna serves as the chair of the San Francisco Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Initiative Network. She earned her master’s degree from the California Graduate School of Psychology, holds a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, and graduated from Barnard College.
