“We want to raise our children without gender stereotypes,” says group leader Robert Scott, “but at the same time we need to acknowledge that there are differences between boys and girls and that a different approach is sometimes needed.”

“Boys have the same emotional capacity as girls,” he continues, “but there are biological differences that have been shown to have an impact on development and behavior. For instance, girls’ verbal abilities, on average, mature faster than boys’; they talk earlier and more fluently. Additionally, boys tend to be more physically active. They move faster and stay in motion longer and as a general rule are slower than girls to develop impulse controls. Being aware of these differences is key. We address these issues in our workshops, and offer practical, hands-on advice and support to parents.”

Topics of discussion include boy "energy," relationships, aggression, discipline, and more.
