Counseling

Emphasizing prevention and early intervention, Parents Place provides comprehensive, results-oriented mental health services for infants, children, teens, and their parents and families. Utilizing individual counseling, play therapy, socialization groups, family therapy, and consultation to parents, we offer a wide range of resources in a warm, supportive atmosphere.

Consultations

Parents Place provides on-site consultation to preschools, early childhood centers, schools, synagogues, summer camps, and other organizations serving children. Through consultation and training, educators learn to detect problems in development, learning, and socialization so they can provide appropriate and timely interventions for children at risk. Services include: consultation to administrators, teachers, and other staff; consultation to parents; information on resources; referral to services and follow-up; and staff in-service training.

MediCal Services

Parents Place, a MediCal provider for the City and County of San Francisco, offers mental health services to MediCal-eligible children and youth (under 21 years of age) who are residents of the city. Individual and family therapy, case management, play therapy, play activity groups, and collateral activities are all treatment options available to children and their families.

Health Insurance Services

Our managed care division can provide a full continuum of mental health services to our clients through their health insurance plans. With nine offices conveniently located throughout the entire Bay Area, we respond quickly and effectively to clients from Sonoma to Santa Clara County. JFCS, founded in 1850, has remained flexible and responsive to the dynamic nature of contemporary mental health service delivery. Licensed clinicians provide short-term mental health services and ongoing psychotherapy for children and adolescents. Problem-focused, results-oriented services are provided through individual counseling, family therapy, and case management programs. Multiple areas of specialty treatment for target populations are offered, as well as general counseling.
