Parent-Child Coaching

Jason, age 4, would get very upset when asked to stop playing with his  favorite Legos and come to the dinner table or move on to another less preferred activity. With the help of a behavioral coach, his parents learned how to best support Jason in coping with change and frustration. The coach introduced a simple visual schedule that helped Jason know what to expect next. She then modeled how to work with his strengths, become a good listener, and master transitions without becoming unduly upset.

Parent-Child Coaching

Coaching sessions focus on promoting optimal learning and behavioral change and diminishing parenting stress through a variety of developmentally and relationship-based interventions.

Our individualized strategies include Floortime/DIR approach; Parent-Child Interaction Therapy; Applied Behavioral Analysis; and others—in the context of a variety of activities involving the child and his or her caregivers.

These sessions can take place in the client’s home, at Parents Place, on the playground, or in another community setting. You can sign up for one to three coaching sessions, or more as needed.
