Parents Place offers educational workshops for teachers about the developmental needs of children from preschool through high school.  Our instructors hold advanced degrees in education, child development, or counseling, and are well versed in a wide range of topics: early childhood education through the high school years, children's developmental issues, parenting concerns, and many other related subjects.  Contact us to arrange a workshop tailored to the needs of your school and teachers.

Post Adoption Services Presents a FREE Daylong Training with Daniel J. Sonkin, PhD, LMFT:

Attachment Theory, Neuroscience, and Post-Adoption

When: June 3, 2011, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm, Lunch from 12:30-1:30pm 'on your own'.

Where: Sonoma Mountain Village, Conference Center, 1100 Valley House Dr., Rohnert Park

Who Should Attend: Professional therapists from Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, and Napa counties who are working with families formed by adoption.

This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing eduation credit for MFTs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  Fee for CEU $25.

About the Workshop: This workshop is designed to help clinicians integrate the large body of attachment theory and neuoscience research that has evolved over the past several decades into their practice with post-adoption families.  It will include a discussion of the neurobiological aspects of attahment behaviors - such as social cognition, emotion regulation, and memory - and how these neural capacities develop in infants and children, ultimately affecting emotion regulation, social adjustment, and mental health.  Danie Sonkin is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the author of many books and articles about domestic violence.
